Valentine's Day is this today, and whether or not you have a significant other to share the day with, I'm sure you'll be bombarded with articles like this one. However, unlike those other sappy articles, this week's post is about video games and is for everyone! So grab a seat on that couch and get ready to play some games with someone you love, or just really like to hang out with! Here's 4 games that are a blast to play with a friend.
Have you ever wanted to bring the fun of cooking with someone else to the living room? This game is a cooperative, more stressful version of games like Diner Dash. The goal is to work together to complete the orders that show up on screen, all while avoiding and working around stage hazards. The more in-sync you and your friends are, the better you will do! This game starts off very simple, but gets incredibly complicated as you progress. What I like most about this game is just how far the developers have taken the simple concept of holding x to cook, adding in ridiculous hazards and a load of recipes. Overcooked is available on consoles and PC, and up to four may play together.
Lovers In a Dangerous Spacetime
This game is amazing! You and your friends are piloting a ship in deep space on a quest to rid the galaxy of "anti-love". You do so by running to the different stations inside the ship and controlling them, one at a time. For instance, a station may control the ship's movement, a cannon, or the shields. You and your partner have to coordinate who is going to operate what in order to survive the enemies constantly attacking your ship! There are also a couple collectibles you can try to get along your journey if you're feeling brave! This game is absolutely a blast. You can find it on consoles and PC as well, and play with up to three other friends!
Red Rope: Don't Fall Behind
This one is probably the most unique game on this list, and also the most difficult. Red Rope has you and a friend controlling a man and a woman bound by a red rope, trying to escape a labyrinth. You use the rope to destroy enemies that you encounter by wrapping them in a loop. The catch is, if an enemy breaks your rope, or if you stretch it too far, you die. Good luck working together with someone else! You have to be on the same wavelength or else you can kiss your rope goodbye! Red Rope is available on PC.
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
Communication is key in this game. One person is tasked with the role of bomb diffuser, and the other is the manual reader. Your goal is to defuse a bomb in the allotted time before it explodes. The only thing is, the manual reader cannot see the bomb, and the diffuser cannot see the manual! Hopefully you and your partner have good communication skills, because this game can get pretty stressful when you have less than 30 seconds left until detonation! This game only gets more ridiculous the more people you have reading the manual, so feel free to play with however many you please! Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is available for PC with VR support.
Well that wraps it up for this week's post. I'm going to take this coming week off because I'm getting adjusted to a new work schedule, but I'll be back to posting the week after! I will try to have the next one up by the 24th. Happy Valentine's day!
